Neerav was born in Jodhpur (Rajasthan), India to entrepreneur parents working in the furniture export industry. The family business CSE (www.chandrashekharexports) is 25+ year old business and one of the most renowned exporters of solid wooden furniture to Americas and Europe. Neerav was the 3rd and the youngest kid in the family and completed his schooling from Delhi Public School, Jodhpur. Neerav finished 3rd Topper in the CBSE – Commerce stream exams for class 12th in 2011.
Post his schooling, Neerav enrolled into the prestigious Kirori Mal College in Delhi University, ranked Top 10 Colleges in India.
Neerav graduated as the 3rd ranker in the class of 2014 in Bachelor of Commerce from KMC.
Post graduating from college, Neerav joined CSE(Aug-14 to Aug-15) to expand exports sales in the European market, while working at CSE – Neerav acquired the knowledge of the furniture industry and learned the intricacies of the business.
During the summer – Neerav joined Lean Launchpad in Utrecht, Netherlands and that’s where the idea from his college days was formed into a business. The idea to provide an alternative to buying expensive furniture for temporary needs, thus Cityfurnish was born, to provide furniture on rental subscriptions.
Neerav came back to India in Sept 2015 and started Cityfurnish in Delhi, India to tap into the huge Indian furniture market. Since then, Cityfurnish has expanded to 4 more cities and employs 100+ members across those cities. Till date, they have serviced more than 10,000 subscriptions and are profitable since year 1.
In 2018 – Neerav got into the prestigious Y Combinator program in San Francisco and raised $5m from renowned investors like – Steve Chen (Founder of Youtube), Paul Buchheit (Founder of Gmail, Fabrice Grinda(Founder of Olx) and Institutional Funds like Soma Capital(Owner of Sacramento Kings), Rocket Internet(Biggest VC fund from Germany) ,Venture Highway and many more.
