Daniel is the CEO and one of the Founders of a deep-tech IIT Madras incubated Startup that builds patented hardware and software technologies to perform intelligent asset monitoring in the process industries – Detect Technologies.

Detect’s core product GUMPS is the first sensor in the world that can do online-real time thickness monitoring of pipelines even at temperatures upto 350 degrees Celsius and for a long range. The tech has been completely indigenously developed from the pulsing electronics hardware, to the patented sensor components itself till the software that is being used for interpretation of the signals. Detect has also innovated in the space of Drone based research and has built state of the art industrial drones for visual, thermal and a patented system for Ultrasonic thickness inspections. Detect has also built solutions for drone based – identification of Safety and HSE violations across a plant during live operation, turnarounds and large projects, facilitated through video analytics.

Daniel has also won several awards over the course of building Detect such as

Daniel had completed his Bachelors and Masters at IIT Madras by 2017 in Mechanical Engineering and has been working in the space of NDT for 4 years till now in the Centre for Non Destructive Evaluation(CNDE). He had also worked on collaborative research in University of Michigan. Worked on the self-sensing characteristics of carbon fibre composites using NDT techniques and resistance measurements. The paper released as part of this work won second best paper at Society of Petroleum Engineers Conference, Texas.

Currently having taken up a leadership role in Detect, the company has secured funding of upto $4million so far, has collaborated with organizations like BPCL, Cairn, RIL , HPCL, Shell etc. and is expanding the company’s international footprint.
