D. Ravishankar is the Founder Director of Brickwork Ratings, a credit rating agency licensed by SEBI and approved by RBI. He is also the Chairman of the Criteria Committee and a member of the Rating Committee.

He is a financial professional with a rich experience of over 25 years in the BFSI segment. Until December 2007, he was the Managing Director of Asia-Pacific Risk Solutions Business of Standard and Poor's and was simultaneously heading the India Risk Solutions Business as Executive Director, CRISIL Limited. As Asia-Pacific Regional head, he was responsible for providing risk solution services for banks in countries implementing Basel II standardised and IRB (foundation and advanced) approaches.

He was the Executive Director & CFO for CRSIL Ltd until October 2005, and in his CRISIL role, he has introduced a number of investment and risk management tools for use at banks and financial institutions.

He takes active role in conducting major seminars in Risk Management - Basel II. As a visiting faculty at Great Lakes Institute of Management he conducts Advanced Risk Management courses for the business programme.

He has held several assignments in the past, such as President & CEO, Polaris Retail Infotech Ltd.; CEO, Cholamandalam Cazenove Mutual Fund; Fund Manager & Vice President, Reliance Mutual Fund; and Chief Investment Officer, GIC Mutual Fund.

He is a first class Commerce Graduate from Loyola College, Chennai. He is a qualified AICWAI. He attended a Global Management Development Programme conducted by the Michigan University, US, and many short Management Programmes for Senior Management, including programmes at Colombia School, Stern University.
