"Abhijit started his career as Probationary Officer in State Bank of India in 1993. He moved to SIDBI thereafter and served there over a decade in various capacities which inter-alia, include appraisal and rating of MFIs, sanction of debt to more than 50 MFIs, assessment of capability building need and providing grant for capacity building of 35 MFIs, training entrepreneurs in setting up enterprises, developing industries in various clusters like honey, handicrafts, silk, jute, iron casting, weaving etc. and providing finance to SMEs / MFIs, in over 12 states of India. Abhijit co-founded Unitus Capital in 2008 where he successfully raised capital totaling US$ 900 mn for multiple social enterprises in the healthcare, education, microfinance, micro-pension, technology, agriculture sector across Asia. Abhijit is also a Board / Advisory Committee member in a couple of debt and equity fund. Abhijit co-authored many articles on microfinance in international journals. He has been a panelist in many conferences on Microfinance and impact investing across Asia. He is also a mentor to young entrepreneurs at CIIE-Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad. Abhijit is a Economics Graduate of Kolkata University and a Certified Associate of the IIBF, Mumbai. He attended "Strategic Leadership Programme in Microfinance" at Harvard Business School, Boston, USA in 2008, School of Applied Microfinance (SAM) 2005 in Mombasa, Kenya, Strategic Planning for MFIs in Cape Town in South Africa.
