Couturier, costume stylist, entrepreneur, and revivalist Manish Malhotra lives by the philosophy that fashion is all about change. An avid film enthusiast and a passionate designer, Manish is celebrating his 30 years of fashion in Bollywood with over 1000 movies and innumerable designs. The very first proponent in fashion space to pioneer a structured role of costume designing in Bollywood.
Manish won his first-ever Filmfare award for 'Best Costume Designer' for his work in Rangeela, a debut category launched by Filmfare in 1995. He designed the complete look for late Sridevi's character in Mahesh Bhatt's 'Gumrah' and paved the way to a full-fledged styling role in Indian cinema. In year 2002, Manish won seven awards for the film 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' for his progressive vision in costumes and adding that much needed realness to the characters on-screen. His work spans generations of actors with the fourth generation of actors today, from Sridevi & Rekha to Karishma & Kareena, Priyanka, Deepika and Alia to Jhanvi & Sara, and all their contemporaries.
Launched in 2005, his eponymous label Manish Malhotra will be completing 15 years this July in 2020 with a team of 700 artists, craftsmen and professionals. Over the last 10 years, the label has been working with 'Mijwan Welfare Society' in its singular vision of empowering the women and put the craft on the global centrestage. This is much like the work done for Philadelphia Museum of Art and Indian High Commission in London.
Manish has covered the diverse zones of fashion with his remarkable work for Michael Jackson, Princess of Riyadh, Will Smith, Indira Nooyi, Hillary Clinton, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Nick Jonas to name a few. He became a proud member of the Oscar's Council in 2018.
With the overwhelming love and support, the label Manish Malhotra is expanding into various verticals with Beauty, Jewellery, Home and Productions to offer an immersive world of Manish Malhotra.
