Varun Manwani, a second-generation entrepreneur, is an Economics (H) graduate from Delhi University and has been with the group for close to 25 years since his joining in the year 2000. Starting as a sales assistant at the electronics distribution arm, he has worked in all the companies under the group umbrella and is currently Director – Sahasra Group and the Managing Director of the Semiconductor venture Sahasra Semiconductors Pvt. Ltd. He is a Governing Council Member at MAIT the IT Industry Association, Member Executive Council at ELCINA the Electronic Manufacturers Association, Core Member of the Workforce Development Program for the Semiconductor Industry being codeveloped by SEMI-ELCINA, Member Working Group for Semicon India Program 2.0 set up by Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India. He has recently taken office as President CIMEI, the Confederation of Indian MSME in ESDM & IT.
Over the years Varun has demonstrated his risk-taking ability by furthering the group’s diversification initiatives moving into new geographies, new markets, product categories, new ventures and partnerships and setting up offices at new locations, thereby creating a niche for the group. A fine example of this was the decision of buying Infopower, a loss-making entity and turning it around within the first year and further wiping the carry over loss impact in less than five years followed by a JV with the Tiawan giant MiTAC.
