Sandiip Bhammer is a Co-Managing Partner and Founder of Green Frontier Capital (GFC), India’s first venture capital fund focused on investing entirely in early-stage companies engaged in delivering breakthrough innovation which is focused on India’s as well as the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, with a particular emphasis on Climate Action. He is, also, an Adjunct Professor of Finance at the Isenberg School of Business at Univ. of Mass – Amherst where he educates the next generation of leaders on Sustainable Finance and Investing and, also, on the importance of incorporating ESG considerations (with a special emphasis on Climate Change) into investment decision making, especially, with regards to developing economies. Prior to GFC and his teaching commitments at UMass – Amherst, Sandiip was a Co-Portfolio Manager of the DA Capital South-Asia Investment Fund, based in New York.
As a veteran investor, Sandiip has a combined 30 years’ experience in, both, “buy” and “sell’ side roles within the USA and Asia. He was, formerly, the Portfolio Manager and Head of South-Asia Investments at Balyasny Asset Management, L.P., an Associate Portfolio Manager at Amaranth Advisors LLC, and a senior investment banking executive at Citigroup Global Markets Inc., HSBC Securities (USA) Inc., and CLSA Emerging Markets respectively.
Considered a “Super Angel” by his peers, Sandiip has been an early investor in many successful start-ups globally and continues to mentor several of them. He serves on the Advisory Boards of Bridge Point Capital (USA), CarbyneInc (Israel/USA), Clip Bike (USA), Moocho (USA), The Newlab Group (USA), Nutrifresh Farm Tech (India), CHUPPS (India), RevFin Services (India), EMotorad (India) and ElectricPe (India).
Sandiip has an M.B.A. from the Johnson Graduate School of Management, Cornell University, an M.Sc. (Finance) and B.S. (Cum Laude) in Business Administration from the Wallace E. Carroll School of Management, Boston College and is CFA Level III (candidate).
Sandiip also serves on the Advisory Board of the Emerging Markets Institute at Cornell University, which provides thought leadership on the role of emerging markets in the global economy and is an Honorary Member of Meaningful Business, a global community of leaders combining profit and purpose to help achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Sandiip is also a recent Recipient of the 2022 MB100 Awards, a program supported by EY and Hogan Lovells, and designed to help achieve the UN Global Goals.
