Wei Zhu is the CEO and Founder of Igloo, a Singapore-based full-stack insurtech firm that enables smart, digital insurance for the Internet economy. Before founding Igloo in 2016, Zhu has held leadership roles in some of the leading technology companies globally, including Grab, Facebook and Microsoft.
Zhu was appointed first CTO at Southeast Asia’s largest ride-hailing company Grab in 2014, where he was instrumental in scaling the company and building innovative products. Zhu has worked in Facebook for six years, having been one of the company’s first 100 engineers. During his time there, he launched Facebook Connect – a single sign-on feature used by hundreds of millions of people on the web to log in to third-party sites using their Facebook identity.
Prior to Facebook, Zhu spent eight years at Microsoft, where he rose up the ranks to eventually become Principal Development Lead at the tech giant – leading the design and development of Live Desktop, the web platform and application of Live Mesh, as well as in the SharePoint Server within Microsoft Office.
Zhu holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Washington.
