As the Chief Executive Officer of AWAK Technologies, Suresha is responsible for building a vibrant team and overseeing the global expansion of the company, accelerating product development, identifying and investing in future growth engines, maintaining investor relationships and raising funds. He was instrumental in securing a $40 million financing round, significantly growing AWAK’s valuation and building a vibrant startup team. Under his leadership, AWAK successfully completed the First-In-Human safety trial for the AWAK PD (Peritoneal Dialysis) device.
Suresha has over a decade’s experience in the medical technology space, with deep domain expertise in areas such as dialysis, respiratory care, ECG/cardiology, remote patient monitoring and therapy surface technologies. This enables him to navigate complex products in these domains through 510 (K) and CE clearance processes.
Prior to his current role at AWAK, Suresha was the Director for the Front Line Care business of Hill-Rom, where he was responsible for developing and commercialising new products as well as spearheading innovation culture. He joined Hill-Rom Singapore as the first engineer in the Singapore division’s new Innovation and Technology Integration team and led them in driving its patent portfolio. This resulted in numerous patent applications and new market growth, along with the commercialisation of five medical devices across the globe.
Suresha began his career as an engineer at Robert Bosch in Bangalore, India, where he progressed to becoming a Technical Lead in Diesel Engine Control and led the development of cutting-edge engine control system solutions for renowned car companies such as Daimler Chrysler and Mercedes.
He completed a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University in India. He later went on to receive a Master of Science in Computer Control Systems from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.
