Nitin Sharma has been an experienced venture capital investor and advisor to high growth technology ventures in India as well as the US, over the last 12 years.
With First Principles, Nitin is currently an active angel in 30+ high growth startups in various sectors, including many in blockchain and other deep tech. He is also the founder of Incrypt Blockchain, which has worked to shape India's emerging blockchain ecosystem through investments in some of the world's leading blockchain startups, a strong developer network in India, and deep policy engagement with the national government.
Previously, Nitin has been a founding Principal at Lightbox, now a $400 million AUM fund in India, where he managed investments in India's largest auto marketplace, online jewellery brand and B2B payments platform.
Earlier in his career, Nitin was fortunate to learn the ropes of venture investing from some of the best in Silicon Valley, while being a US venture investor at New Enterprise Associates (NEA, a $20 billion fund) where he invested in world-class companies like OPOWER, Millennial Media, EverFi ChannelAdvisor and Gilt, and co-led NEA's first education technology investment.
Nitin was also part of the early management team at EverFi, one of the world's largest education networks, reaching 25 million students, with $250M raised. He started his career as a tech investment banker at UBS in San Francisco.
Nitin holds an MBA from The Wharton School, and two degrees from the University of Southern California.
In conjunction with his professional activities, he also serves on the India Advisory Boards of AngelList, EMVC (US-India fintech fund), the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, and TheBetterIndia. He is also actively engaged with the Indian central government's policy think tank (NITI Aayog) on frontier tech policy making.
