Sam Subramaniam is the CEO of Brand Capital, the $4 billion strategic
investment arm of The Times Group.
Sam has worked extensively in general management, strategy, business
development, investing, operations and turnarounds. Prior he served as
a senior adviser for a multi-billion-dollar retail finance and insurance
business. Sam founded a family office called Sprout Growth Advisors and
also a clutch of SPVs and Investment funds that together invested and
managed over $3 billion in India between 2005 and 2015. He was also a
Managing Partner and Board Member of Houlihan Lokey (India+SE Asia) –
the major US Mid-market investment bank.
Earlier he served on the leadership team of American Express Company’s
Strategic Planning and Business Development Group and he was an
investment banker at Goldman Sachs. He started his career as a
management consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton. Sam has served as an
economic adviser to the Dalai Lama’s Central Tibetan Administration and
was also an eminent researcher on Intelligent Transport Systems during
his early career.
Sam graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and holds
graduate degrees from Vanderbilt University and the University of
Chicago’s Booth School of Business.
