From Dombivali to Bandra - Journey of a real underdog who found success via YouTube.
Nikunj Lotia, famously known as Nick from Be YouNick, has been one of the leading names in the YouTube Comedy scenario. With over 7.5 million subscribers on digital platforms and a whopping 1 Billion video views on BYN, Nick has been immensely popular for his out of the box content loaded with funny twists.
Nick started out raw with short comic and prank videos in his college days which soon developed into an amateur YouTube channel called Not So Funny with no substantial traction. However, Nikunj as the real underdog of YT industry, remained consistent with his efforts and became a dedicated content creator under the label of a new YT channel called Be YouNick, a name referring to a unique content with an element of Nick's own name. The channel went viral as incredible content like MaukaMauka (a spoof on the famous advertisement for CWC 2015) and Men Will Be Men series added to Nick's credibility in the genre of subtle comedy. The traction on these videos put Nick into the much-needed spotlight, who was still struggling for financial sustainability. Perhaps, this is where his resilience and persistence curated the YouTube star that we now know.
Coming from a not so well to do family, Nick resorted to doing jobs like bartending, call centres etc to make ends meet while he kept going with his content curation without having a break on days on end. Eventually, Nick's hard work was able to attract much-deserved attention when he started building a loyal following. Today, BYN has over 250+ videos on the tube, featuring a unique set of collaborations with eminent international creators like Adam W (Instagram's most loved creator, face of almost all Instagram creator promotions), Montana Tucker (One of the biggest dance creators from US) , Mo Vlogs(Dubai's biggest), Vaga Brothers, Tipsy Bartender, Leenda Dong and many more. He is also known for his incredible collaboration with Bollywood stars like Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Rajkumar Rao, Hardik Pandya, Boman Irani, Nargis Fakhri, Ayushmann Khurrana including IPL teams like Mumbai Indians.
With his increasing popularity, Nick has also been the most preferred creator for brand collaborations like Tinder, OPPO, William Lawson's, KIA Motors, Gillette, etc. He recently received a wide range of gasps from his audience with an April Fool's Prank that he pulled on by announcing his collaboration with an impeccably photoshopped poster with Dwayne Johnson. His sense of humor remains a subject of his audience's curiosity with a relatability factor.
Additionally, last year Nick was the only Indian digital creator to represent India at Vidcon US 2019. As of a couple of months back, Nick has started a seperate vlogging channel on YouTube with his first video crossing 100k views in just a day of release. The channel is about to cross 100k subscribers. Nick has now become a dependable and relatable name in the Influencer Industry and is only growing as we watch him hustle.
