Electric vehicle manufacturer Ultraviolette Automotive has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Karnataka to expand its manufacturing capacity in the state over the next five years. The agreement was formalised during the ‘Invest Karnataka’ conclave held in Bengaluru.
The expansion plan will be executed in two phases. In the first phase, the company will invest around ₹200 crore to scale up production at its existing facility. The second phase involves setting up a new manufacturing plant with an annual production capacity of up to 150,000 units.
The initiative is expected to generate employment, strengthen local supply chains, and boost innovation in the electric mobility sector. The Karnataka government has proposed support through Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes and fast-track administrative clearances for the project.
Narayan Subramaniam, CEO and Co-founder of Ultraviolette, said the investment reflects the company’s confidence in Karnataka’s strong EV ecosystem and supportive policy environment. CTO and Co-founder Niraj Rajmohan highlighted the availability of engineering talent and proximity to industrial hubs as key factors behind the expansion.
Founded in Bengaluru in 2016, Ultraviolette currently offers products such as the F77 performance motorcycle and the X-47 crossover. The company has established over 40 experience centres across India and aims to expand its presence to 100 cities by 2026.
Ultraviolette has also entered international markets, with its electric motorcycles now available in 12 European countries. The company is planning further expansion into Asia and Latin America in the coming years.
