TVS Vehicle Mobility Solutions (TVS VMS) has entered the electric trucking sector by deploying Montra Electric’s heavy commercial electric vehicles for its freight operations. As part of the partnership, the company has commenced the deployment of 57 Montra Electric Rhino 5538 EV 4x2 TT heavy-duty electric trucks.
The electric trucks were flagged off in Manesar and will be operated by TVS VMS for commercial freight movement along a 190-km lead route in Chhattisgarh. The operations will be supported by three dedicated charging stations.
The two companies are targeting the deployment of more than 300 electric trucks during FY 2026-27. The initiative is expected to support the large-scale adoption of electric commercial vehicles and accelerate the development of green logistics in India.
Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director, Montra Electric, said that the deployment of electric trucks in live freight operations by a company like TVS VMS, with seven decades of experience, provides strong validation for the technology and its readiness for commercial-scale applications. He added that the partnership demonstrates that Montra Electric’s technology is ready for real-world logistics operations.
Madhu Raghunath, CEO of TVS VMS, said the strategic partnership with Montra Electric marks a decisive step towards strengthening India’s green logistics infrastructure.
