Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. recorded total sales of 2,01,723 units across domestic and international markets in the second quarter of FY27 (July-September), registering a 40% increase compared with 1,44,397 units sold in the same quarter last year. According to the company, this was its highest-ever quarterly sales figure.
Domestic sales increased 40% to 1,96,674 units from 1,40,189 units in the corresponding quarter last year. Meanwhile, international sales grew 20% to 5,049 units compared with 4,208 units a year earlier.
In September 2026, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles sold 70,210 units, up 15% from 60,907 units in September 2025. The company said this was the first time its monthly sales crossed the 70,000-unit mark. Domestic sales stood at 68,810 units, up 15% year-on-year, while international sales increased 13% to 1,400 units.
The company electric vehicle (EV) sales increased 90% to 47,150 units in Q2 FY27, compared with 24,855 units in the same quarter last year. In September, EV sales grew 67% to 15,384 units from 9,191 units in September 2025.
According to the company, EVs accounted for 23% of its total sales during the quarter, compared with around 8% for the overall industry. Tata Motors' EV sales include sales from its subsidiary, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd.
Tata Motors said its CNG models also recorded their highest-ever quarterly sales during the period. CNG models accounted for 28% of total volumes in the quarter. Together, EV and CNG models contributed 51% of the company's total sales.
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said industry volumes on the Vahan portal grew by around 24% year-on-year during the quarter. He attributed the demand growth to the impact of GST 2.0 and the increasing adoption of greener powertrains.
During the quarter, the Tata Punch emerged as India's highest-selling SUV, according to the company. Tata Motors also launched or introduced the Curvv SeriesX, Sierra Legend Series and Tata Aeris during the period. The company also introduced its new customer-facing identity, ‘TATA.CARS’.
The company said it has a strong order book for the festive season and is increasing production to meet customer demand.
In August 2026, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles recorded sales of 67,753 units, up 56% from 43,315 units in August 2025. EV sales during the month increased 94% to 16,549 units. The company's Vahan market share stood at 14.7% in August.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles is part of the Tata Group. The company was formerly known as Tata Motors Ltd. Its name was changed on October 13, 2025, under a Composite Scheme of Arrangement approved by the Mumbai bench of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).
