Tata Motors has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with commercial electric vehicle leasing platform Drivn to introduce customised leasing and financing models for electric commercial vehicles in India. Under the partnership, the two companies plan to deploy more than 1,000 electric trucks over the next two years.
The partnership aims to address key challenges faced by fleet operators, including high upfront acquisition costs, better asset utilisation, charging infrastructure planning and vehicle deployment timelines. Through customised leasing and financing solutions, the companies intend to make electric trucks more accessible to customers.
The initiative will leverage Tata Motors recently introduced electric truck portfolio under the Tata Trucks.ev brand. The range includes electric trucks with gross vehicle weights (GVW) ranging from 7 tonnes to 55 tonnes.
Built on the Intelligent Modular Electric Vehicle (IMOEV) architecture, the electric truck portfolio is designed to cater to various logistics applications, including e-commerce distribution, construction material transportation and port operations.
Rajesh Kaul, Vice President and Business Head – Trucks, Tata Motors Ltd., said the company is committed to democratising clean mobility and accelerating India’s transition towards sustainable transportation. He added that the partnership with Drivn will help make electric trucks more accessible to customers.
Kaul further said Tata Motors electric truck portfolio has been engineered to deliver performance, reliability and operating economics aligned with the evolving requirements of customers.
