Simple Energy recorded its highest-ever monthly sales in March 2026, selling 1,744 electric two-wheelers across India, according to data from the government’s Vahan vehicle registration portal. The figures, which exclude Telangana due to its separate registration system, highlight a sharp growth trajectory for the Bengaluru-based EV startup.

The March performance marks a significant 128% increase compared to February 2026. Riding on this surge, Simple Energy climbed to ninth position among electric two-wheeler manufacturers in India, overtaking e-Sprinto and marking a notable improvement in its market standing.

The Vahan portal, maintained by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, serves as a key benchmark for tracking EV sales trends, market share, and manufacturer performance across the country. Analysts widely rely on its data to assess industry momentum.

India’s electric two-wheeler market has expanded rapidly in recent years, driven by government incentives, rising fuel prices, and a growing preference for clean mobility. Initiatives such as the PM E-DRIVE programme have helped lower the effective cost of EVs, making them more accessible to a wider customer base.

Despite strong competition from established players like Ola Electric, TVS Motor, Bajaj Chetak, and Ather Energy, smaller manufacturers such as Simple Energy are steadily gaining ground. The company’s entry into the top 10 reflects its growing presence in this competitive segment.

Founded in 2019 by Suhas Rajkumar and co-founder Shreshth Mishra, Simple Energy focuses on vertically integrated manufacturing, developing key components such as battery systems, motors, chassis, and software in-house. Its products are targeted at urban and semi-urban commuters seeking better range, faster charging, and cost efficiency.

While it remains to be seen whether this surge represents sustained growth or a one-time spike, Simple Energy’s latest performance has positioned it as an emerging player to watch in India’s rapidly evolving electric mobility market.
