Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer Simple Energy has raised 1,750 crore (around $180 million) in a Series C funding round. The round was entirely equity-funded and, according to the company, is its largest funding round to date and the third-largest raised by an Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer.
The funding round was led by the family office of Dr. Arokiaswamy Velumani. Simple Energy Founder and CEO Suhas Rajkumar, Co-founder and CFO Ankit Gupta, Bengaluru-based high-net-worth individual Amit Mishra, and the Haran Family Office also participated in the round. The company has not disclosed the valuation at which the round was raised or the individual contribution of each investor.
Simple Energy said the funds will be used to establish a new manufacturing facility, increase production capacity and expand its sales and service network. The company will also allocate capital towards hiring, marketing, supply chain operations and research and development for its next product cycle. The location, capacity and timeline of the proposed facility have not yet been disclosed.
Suhas Rajkumar, Founder and CEO, Simple Energy, said the company has developed its core technology, products, manufacturing capabilities and retail network in-house. He said the new capital will support the company's plans to establish a new manufacturing unit, increase production, expand its distribution and service network, and develop next-generation products.
Dr. Arokiaswamy Velumani said Simple Energy has developed its own technology across the chassis, battery, motor and software. He also expressed an expectation that the company could become one of the top three players in the electric two-wheeler segment within the next three years. This is his projection, and the company has not provided supporting forecasts.
Simple Energy currently has a production capacity of 10,000 units per month. The company said it ranks among India's top 10 electric two-wheeler manufacturers by monthly sales. Its current product portfolio includes the Simple One and Simple Wave, and the company said its monthly sales have increased more than fourfold over the past year. However, it has not disclosed the absolute sales figures for either period.
The company operates more than 80 outlets across over 60 cities, including Bengaluru, Delhi, Patna, Hyderabad and Chennai. Over the past eight months, Simple Energy has launched two models. The Simple Wave is targeted at the family scooter segment, while the Simple Ultra is positioned as a performance scooter.
The latest funding round follows a 250 crore funding round raised in June 2026, comprising both debt and equity. That round was also led by Velumani's family office. With the Series C funding, Simple Energy has raised more than 2,530 crore in total. Its investors include Velumani's family office, Amit Mishra, Balamurugan Arumugam, the Haran Family Office, the Desai Family Office and the Vasavi Family Office.
Simple Energy was founded in 2019 by Suhas Rajkumar, with Shreshth Mishra as a co-founder, while Ankit Gupta later joined as an additional co-founder. The company designs and develops its chassis, battery, motor and software in-house. Simple Energy claims to be the first Indian manufacturer to commercially produce motors without heavy rare-earth materials and the first to offer a lifetime warranty on its motor and battery.
