Expanding electric mobility into the intercity segment, SWITCH Mobility flagged off its first batch of 10 EiV12mt intercity electric coaches on the Mumbai–Pune route in Pune. The delivery was made to Prasanna Purple Mobility Solutions, marking SWITCH Mobility’s first intercity order for a private operator.
The flag-off ceremony was attended by Madhuri Misal, Minister of State, Government of Maharashtra. The total order comprises 25 buses, with the remaining units scheduled for delivery خلال the year. The deployment is being carried out in strategic partnership with Vertelo.
Designed for long-distance travel, the EiV12mt electric coach offers 45 pushback seats, a range of over 300 km per charge, and fast-charging capability. It is also equipped with SWITCH iON connected technology for real-time fleet monitoring.
Ganesh Mani, CEO of SWITCH Mobility, said the initiative marks a significant step toward expanding electric mobility beyond cities and delivering reliable, efficient, and sustainable transport solutions on high-frequency routes like Mumbai–Pune.
Prasanna Patwardhan, CMD of Prasanna Purple Mobility Solutions, noted that entering the electric intercity segment is a key milestone for the company, enabling cleaner and more efficient travel options for passengers.
SWITCH Mobility has deployed over 2,500 electric buses in India and recorded more than 185 million kilometres globally. The company has also previously supplied intercity electric buses to state transport undertakings such as UPSRTC.
