TVS Motor Company launched its new electric scooter, TVS Orbiter V1, on March 12, 2026, in Lucknow. The scooter is priced at ₹49,999 (Delhi ex-showroom) under the PM e-Drive subsidy when purchased with the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plan. Without BaaS, the same model is available at ₹84,500. The announcement was also shared with the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange.
The BaaS model changes the way customers purchase electric vehicles, allowing them to subscribe to battery usage rather than paying the full cost upfront. Monthly plans start at ₹862 and include extended warranty coverage of up to five years or 70,000 km, along with unlimited usage throughout the subscription period. TVS has made this option available across its entire electric scooter range, including the TVS iQube.
The Orbiter V1 is powered by a 1.8 kWh battery and offers an IDC-certified range of 86 km per charge. It takes approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes to charge from zero to 80%. The scooter features an 845 mm flat seat, 290 mm footboard, 34-liter under-seat storage, and an upright handlebar for rider comfort. It also includes a colored LCD instrument cluster, mobile app connectivity, Hill Hold Assist, Cruise Control, Parking Assist, turn-by-turn navigation, and two ride modes—Eco and Power—with regenerative braking.
Gaurav Gupta, President of India 2W Business at TVS Motor, said the launch is a major step toward making electric mobility more accessible. He noted that separating the vehicle price from the battery cost gives customers a clear understanding of total EV ownership expenses. Senior Vice President Aniruddha Haldar added that customer feedback from the Orbiter V2 influenced the decision to introduce a more entry-level option, and BaaS aims to accelerate broader EV adoption across India.
TVS Motor, listed on both BSE and NSE, operates in over 80 countries with manufacturing facilities in India and Indonesia. It is the only two-wheeler manufacturer globally to have received the Deming Prize for quality. The launch of Orbiter V1 comes at a time when India’s electric two-wheeler market is rapidly expanding, particularly in the sub-₹1 lakh segment, where competition from Ola Electric, Ather Energy, and Bajaj Chetak has intensified.
