Electric commercial vehicle manufacturer Montra Electric has signed two separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to participate in a structured fleet modernization program across the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR).
The agreements have been signed independently by the company's Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle (MHCV) and Small Commercial Vehicle (SCV) divisions. The initiative aligns with the central government's infrastructure support scheme under the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) policy framework.
The program aims to gradually replace older, high-emission diesel trucks and buses operating in the Delhi-NCR region with clean, zero-emission electric commercial vehicles. It is designed to accelerate the transition toward sustainable mobility while reducing vehicular emissions in one of India's most polluted urban corridors.
Through these agreements, Montra Electric will provide localized electric mobility solutions for logistics companies, corporate fleet operators, and transport businesses, enabling them to transition from conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to electric commercial vehicles.
The policy framework is intended to improve air quality in the capital region by encouraging the replacement of ageing diesel fleets with cleaner alternatives. It also offers structured incentives for fleet modernization, supporting the adoption of sustainable freight transportation and contributing to India's broader clean mobility goals.
