Mitsubishi Electric India Marks Earth Day with Lake Conservation Drive
Mitsubishi Electric India marked World Earth Day 2026 with a lake conservation initiative at Talegaon, engaging employees in clean-up, plantation, and awareness activities.

Mitsubishi Electric India, in collaboration with Earthwatch Institute India, commemorated World Earth Day 2026 with an on-ground employee engagement programme at Talegaon Dabhade Lake near Pune. The initiative is part of the company’s ongoing CSR programme focused on lake conservation.

As part of the engagement, employees participated in a guided “Walk & Talk” session, using digital field guides and interactive applications to understand the importance of urban blue and green spaces. This was followed by a clean-up drive and plantation activity aimed at improving the lake’s ecosystem.

Participants also attended an educational session on carbon and water footprints, where they gained practical insights into measuring and reducing environmental impact. Demonstrations of tools such as automatic weather stations, air quality monitoring systems, and water quality assessment technologies were also conducted. The programme concluded with a reflection and group discussion session to reinforce learning and encourage long-term behavioural change.

The initiative also marks one year of Mitsubishi Electric India’s lake conservation CSR programme, launched in FY 2024–25. Over the past year, the programme has included biodiversity mapping of lakes in the Talegaon region, development of digital field guides, and citizen science initiatives involving students, women’s groups, and local communities. It has also supported plantation drives, environmental education, and community capacity building.

Commenting on the initiative, Atsushi Takase said the programme goes beyond awareness by encouraging active environmental participation and fostering a deeper understanding of individual impact on ecosystems.

Amid growing concerns over climate change, Mitsubishi Electric India’s CSR efforts in Talegaon highlight a sustained approach to strengthening local environmental resilience, aligning with the company’s “Changes for the Better” philosophy and broader sustainability goals.
