Mercedes-Benz will launch its new GLC Electric SUV in India on November 4, 2026. The electric SUV will be locally assembled at the company’s Chakan plant in Pune, with bookings expected to open in October. The India-spec model will be offered in the 400 4Matic variant.
The GLC Electric 400 4Matic gets a 94kWh battery pack with a claimed WLTP range of 715km on a single charge. It features a dual-motor setup that produces a combined 490hp and 800Nm of torque. According to the company, the approximately 2.5-tonne SUV can accelerate from 0-100kmph in a claimed 4.3 seconds.
The electric SUV supports 330kW DC fast charging. Mercedes-Benz claims that the vehicle can add around 300km of range in 10 minutes using a fast charger. This is expected to help reduce charging time during long-distance journeys.
In terms of design, the GLC Electric features a large rounded front grille with illuminated elements, along with star-shaped LED DRLs and projector LED headlights. The side profile gets flush-fitting door handles, slim wheel-arch cladding and alloy wheels of up to 21 inches. At the rear, star-shaped LED tail-lamps are connected by a gloss-black trim.
Inside, the key highlight is the 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, which Mercedes-Benz describes as its largest display to date. The setup integrates the digital instrument cluster, central infotainment screen and passenger display into a single unit. It runs the company’s fourth-generation MBUX system and includes an AI assistant. Despite the large digital display, physical controls are retained on the steering wheel and centre console.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric is expected to be priced between ₹80 lakh and ₹90 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. The SUV will compete in the luxury electric SUV segment, with the BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase also planned for launch in India in 2027.
