Kazam Launches ‘EV-Ready Ghar’ Awareness Campaign
A study by Kazam and AEEE reveals that nearly 50% of Indian homes are not equipped for safe EV charging. To address this gap, the company has launched the ‘EV-Ready Ghar’ awareness campaign.

As electric vehicle (EV) adoption continues to grow rapidly in India, nearly 80% of EV charging now takes place at home, making safe and reliable residential charging more important than ever. To address this critical aspect of EV ownership, EV charging and energy management company Kazam, in collaboration with the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE), has launched the ‘EV-Ready Ghar’ consumer awareness campaign.

The campaign is based on a study analysing more than 80,000 residential EV charger installations across India. The findings reveal that nearly half of Indian homes require electrical upgrades or corrective interventions to support safe EV charging, highlighting a significant infrastructure gap that could impact EV adoption.

To help consumers understand whether their homes are ready for EV charging, Kazam has introduced the EV Home Readiness Quiz. This digital assessment tool enables users to evaluate the readiness of their home's electrical infrastructure. If upgrades are required, consumers can also schedule a professional home charging assessment through Kazam Rangers, the company's trained field technicians.

Raising Awareness About Safe Home Charging

As part of the campaign, Kazam has also released a music video featuring real EV users to make conversations around home charging more relatable. Instead of focusing solely on electric vehicles, the campaign emphasizes safe home charging practices, encouraging consumers to avoid using standard household sockets for prolonged overnight charging.

To further simplify the message, Kazam has reimagined the traditional 'Nimbu Mirchi' as a symbol of an EV-ready home, reinforcing the importance of preparing a home's electrical infrastructure before investing in an electric vehicle.

Vani Vivek, AVP – Marketing, Kazam, said that home charging is the foundation of the EV ownership experience, yet it remains one of the least understood aspects of owning an electric vehicle.

She added that through the ‘EV-Ready Ghar’ campaign, the company aims to provide consumers with simple information and practical tools to assess their home's charging readiness and make informed decisions about charging safely.

Kazam believes that as India moves towards millions of electric vehicles on its roads, making homes EV-ready will be just as important as expanding public charging infrastructure, helping accelerate the country's transition to sustainable mobility.
