JK Cement has partnered with BillionE Mobility to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in its logistics operations. As part of the collaboration, the company plans to deploy more than 150 heavy-duty electric trucks during the current financial year.
The initiative has commenced with a pilot deployment of 20 electric trucks with a 55-tonne Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) at JK Cement's Muddapur plant in Karnataka. These trucks will transport cement to stockyards across Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa.
According to the companies, the partnership aims to gradually transition JK Cement's freight operations to electric mobility. BillionE Mobility will provide an integrated electric freight solution that includes electric trucks, charging infrastructure, fleet operations and route management.
To support the fleet, the companies will leverage ChargeZone EV charging network, with charging infrastructure being expanded along key freight corridors in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa. New charging locations are being developed in Nipani, Satara, Pune, Karad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Goa, Hubli and Davanagere.
Pushparaj Singh, Group President – Marketing, JK Cement, said the partnership is an important step towards reducing carbon emissions from the company's logistics operations.
Sanjeev Kulkarni, Chief Executive Officer of BillionE Mobility, said the collaboration reflects the growing adoption of electric trucks in the commercial freight sector. He added that Billion Electric's platform, supported by ChargeZone's charging network, will help businesses transition to electric freight operations efficiently.
The two companies believe the partnership will serve as a scalable model for industrial logistics by combining electric truck deployment with robust charging infrastructure across major freight corridors.
