GlobalLogic, a Hitachi Group company and leader in digital product engineering, along with its strategic partner IRCLASS Systems and Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (ISSPL), has successfully completed the first batch of cybersecurity audits for electric vehicle (EV) buses operated by the Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Corporation (AMTC). The newly secured fleet was inaugurated by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on February 13, 2026, underscoring the state’s push for secure, technology-driven public transport.
The initiative focused on strengthening the cybersecurity framework and operational resilience of connected, BRT-compatible Midi AC electric buses equipped with Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). The assessment aimed to identify and mitigate cyber risks across operational, financial, and safety-critical systems, reducing the likelihood of data breaches and system disruptions.
These buses are integrated with an Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS), featuring GPS-based Automatic Vehicle Location Systems (AVLS), Passenger Information Systems (PIS), CCTV surveillance, and automated run-kilometer tracking for operator payments. Given the deep integration between onboard systems and backend platforms, a comprehensive cybersecurity evaluation was essential.
The audit covered in-vehicle networks, firmware, CCTV and mobile NVR devices, ITS modules, APIs, web portals, data storage infrastructure, and more. Structured gray-box penetration testing methodologies were used, aligned with global standards such as ISO/SAE 21434, AIS-189, and UN R155 guidelines.
Bhupendra Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat, said “Gujarat is committed to leading India’s transition toward sustainable and intelligent mobility. This electric bus fleet not only advances clean transportation but also strengthens digitally secure public infrastructure. As transport systems become increasingly connected, strong cybersecurity frameworks are essential to ensure passenger safety, operational reliability, and public trust.”
Piyush Jha, Group Vice President and Head – APAC, GlobalLogic, added “As public transport becomes smarter and more connected, cybersecurity is critical to ensuring safety and reliability. Our collaboration with AMTC reflects our commitment to building secure, resilient, and future-ready mobility ecosystems.”
Shashi Nath Mishra, Chief Operating Officer, ISSPL “In large-scale connected mobility programs, assurance goes beyond mechanical performance. Ensuring the integrity of vehicle electronics, control systems, and data flows is equally important. This partnership demonstrates how structured cybersecurity validation can identify risks early and embed safeguards before full-scale deployment.”
With the rapid electrification and digitalization of public transport in India, cybersecurity assurance is becoming vital for business continuity and passenger safety. This initiative highlights GlobalLogic’s commitment to enabling a secure, software-defined mobility ecosystem aligned with global automotive cybersecurity standards.
