BEML Unveils 60-Ton BH60-EV Electric Dump Truck
BEML has unveiled the 60-ton BH60-EV electric dump truck with a 1,000 kWh battery for mining and infrastructure applications. The company claims the truck can reduce operating costs by 40–60% compared with diesel-powered equipment.

BEML has unveiled the BH60-EV, a 60-ton electric dump truck designed and developed in India for mining and infrastructure applications. The electric dump truck was unveiled at BEML’s Mysuru Complex on September 30, 2026.

The BH60-EV is equipped with a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), a rugged gearbox and a 1,000 kWh high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack. According to BEML, the truck produces zero tailpipe emissions during operation and has been designed for heavy-duty applications.

BEML has also developed a charging station solution for the electric dump truck. The solution is designed to work with site electrical infrastructure and support fleet operations. The company claims that the BH60-EV can deliver 40–60% lower operating costs compared with conventional diesel-powered equipment. Depending on operating conditions, the vehicle could also reduce CO2 emissions by around 130 tonnes per vehicle annually.

The BH60-EV has a payload capacity of 54,500 kg and a volumetric body capacity of 36.4 cubic metres with a rock body. According to BEML, its electric powertrain provides high tractive effort and instant torque, supporting operations on gradients and demanding terrain.

The electric platform has been designed to reduce dependence on conventional fuels while providing improved energy efficiency, a high power-to-weight ratio, acceleration and gradeability. The truck also features a Roll-Over Protective Structure (ROPS), emergency steering and sealed oil-cooled disc brakes.

The BH60-EV follows BEML’s 35-ton electric dump truck, which was launched on April 10, 2026. With the new 60-ton model, the company is expanding its electric equipment portfolio into higher-capacity mining and infrastructure applications.

Shantanu Roy, CMD, BEML, said the BH60-EV reflects the company’s move towards electric mobility in heavy industry. He said the truck has been developed around the requirements of mining and infrastructure operations, while highlighting its indigenous engineering, battery technology, performance and safety.

The BH60-EV has been developed at BEML Mysuru Complex. The company operates across Defence & Aerospace, Mining & Construction, and Rail & Metro, with manufacturing facilities in Bengaluru, Kolar Gold Fields, Mysuru and Palakkad.
