Atul Auto and Exponent Energy have announced a strategic partnership to develop and deploy rapid-charging electric three-wheelers, marking a major step forward in the commercial EV segment. As part of the agreement, the companies plan to roll out at least 15,000 Exponent-powered passenger e-3 wheelers over the next three years—one of the largest scale-ups in this category.
Under the collaboration, Atul Auto’s vehicles will be integrated with Exponent Energy’s OTO three-wheeler mobility platform, a unified architecture combining advanced battery technology, powertrain systems, and vehicle software. After proving its success in retrofit deployments, the platform will now be extended to OEM-integrated new vehicles.
Exponent’s proprietary technology enables a full charge in just 15 minutes—claimed to be the fastest globally for commercial vehicles—while ensuring consistent performance under demanding daily operations. The system also comes with a 200,000 km warranty, addressing concerns around battery life and resale value. Additionally, the platform is compatible not only with Exponent’s rapid charging network but also with standard public and home charging infrastructure.
This partnership is expected to deliver significant benefits to Atul Auto customers, including faster turnaround times, improved vehicle availability, lower operating costs, and enhanced earning potential, thereby accelerating the adoption of electric three-wheelers in the market.
