MetalMandi, the B2B digital scrap trading platform by Attero, has surpassed 200,000 downloads across India and is aiming for fivefold growth over the next five years as it expands its footprint in the country’s scrap and recycling ecosystem.
Launched in 2025, the platform currently has over 110,000 registered users, more than 50,000 monthly active users, and around 4,000 daily active users, with participation across 28+ states and over 100 cities. MetalMandi facilitates the procurement of approximately 15,000 metric tonnes of scrap metal every month, translating to 150,000–200,000 metric tonnes annually. The company is targeting annual revenue of ₹10,000 crore over the next five years.
According to Nitin Gupta, Co-founder and CEO of Attero, India faces a major challenge due to the lack of a formal and transparent scrap supply chain, despite generating large volumes of domestic scrap. He noted that MetalMandi aims to address this gap by formalising the ecosystem, improving price discovery, and directly connecting buyers and sellers at scale, while contributing to a more self-reliant resource ecosystem.
The platform is gaining strong traction in key industrial hubs such as Delhi NCR, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad. It provides live, market-linked scrap price updates and offers structured pricing benchmarks for e-waste, enhancing transparency in a traditionally fragmented market.
MetalMandi is also leveraging artificial intelligence to improve transaction reliability, using image-based quality inspection tools to assess scrap categories in real time. The company is preparing to launch a marketplace model to enable direct interaction between buyers and sellers, supported by end-to-end traceability features such as document uploads, geo-tracking, shipment monitoring, and participant verification, thereby strengthening transparency and efficiency in India’s scrap supply chain.
