Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy has received approval to list and retail its electric scooters through the Canteen Stores Department (CSD) portal. From September 2026, eligible Armed Forces personnel and veterans will be able to purchase Ather electric scooters through the CSD platform.
With this approval, Ather has become one of the early electric two-wheeler manufacturers in India to have its vehicles available through the CSD platform. According to the company, a total of eight variants from the Ather 450 performance series and Ather Rizta family will be available through the CSD channel. However, the limited-edition Ather 450 Apex will not be part of the listing.
Eligible defence personnel and veterans purchasing Ather scooters through CSD will receive special manufacturer-backed discounts. These discounts will be available in addition to the standard GST concessions applicable to CSD purchases.
Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, said that being listed on the CSD platform marks an important step for the company. He added that the initiative will give Armed Forces personnel and their families access to Ather electric scooters through a trusted channel that they already use for everyday purchases.
According to Ather, availability and easy accessibility play an important role in accelerating EV adoption. The availability of Ather scooters on the CSD platform is expected to support the adoption of electric mobility among Armed Forces personnel.
