Bengaluru, India – Greaves Electric Mobility’s (GEML) electric two-wheeler brand, Ampere, is set to launch its new Ampere 6th Gen Electric Scooter, dubbed the ‘ICE Breaker,’ in FY27, aiming to compete directly with India’s high-selling petrol scooters in the sub-Rs 1 lakh category.
The upcoming model is engineered to deliver higher torque, improved hill-climbing ability, and lower running costs, while offering software-driven features such as Over-The-Air (OTA) updates, AI/ML-enabled connectivity, and remote diagnostics. The scooter promises to cut running expenses by up to 50% compared to petrol scooters, while providing the convenience of home charging and reduced maintenance.
Vikas Singh, Managing Director and CFO of Greaves Electric Mobility, said, “The sub-Rs 1 lakh segment represents the single largest volume opportunity in India’s scooter market. With the Ampere 6th Gen Electric Scooter, we are targeting mass-market adoption by offering performance comparable to petrol scooters, while advancing green mobility and smarter software integration.”
With over 3 lakh vehicles on the road, 400+ service touchpoints, and continued geographic expansion, GEML’s Ampere brand is reinforcing its mission to make electric mobility accessible, practical, and competitive for Indian families, especially for first-time EV buyers seeking performance without compromise.
The launch of the Ampere 6th Gen Electric Scooter marks a significant step in democratizing smart and sustainable mobility, challenging the traditional ICE-led scooter market in India.
